The Boden archive produces this 1975 view of Clive Anderson's cutting, with L to R, ?, Martine (who was Belgian), Dave Southwood, two lads from Gloucester whose names escape JB, and Clive himself. Flight Lieutenant Southwood, as he then was, is sporting a plastic Roman soldier's helmet. As you do.

I remember going to the Cotswold Water Park with various diggers (including Malcolm, I think) and if I remember correctly it was on this occasion that we saw a Roman soldier on the Cirencester road. Luckily some sharp eyed person spotted that he was actually wearing a wrist watch, otherwise the driver might have crashed the van at this apparent evidence of spectral activity. He turned out to be a stray member of the Ermin St Guard.
