Hopscotch

Posted by Picasa
Dr Cleal, as Director of Planning, gives a demonstration of 'Planning Frame Hopscotch', which involved doing a jig across the cutting, placing one's feet in the 20cm square holes strung in the planning frames: a simple enough game if the frame is flush with the ground surface but trickier if, as here, the frames are unstable and elevated above the ground at mid-calf level. It should have been set to fast-paced music, perhaps with a chair or stretcher on the cutting edge to accommodate casualties.

Mostly not watching her progress in this Phillpotts photograph are, L to R, Andrew Powell, Graham O'Hare, ?, Penny Locke, ? Ros Cleal, Jenny and Christine. From 1980.
