A beautiful Iron Age hearth from 1972

One does not often see an Iron Age hearth, let alone one as splendid as this from Andrew Powell's collection.  Professor Dixon recalls that this was discovered in 1972 on cutting CIV.  It is certainly one of the most clearly delineated compared to some of the more haphazard patches of burnt limestone where one could not be sure that they had not arisen by some accident or another.
