Iron Age walls on Terry's Cutting (AXV) CH 79 ...


It really was an astonishing experience digging this and took quite a large team: planks from the sides of the cutting can be seen in silhouette on the summit of the rampart. They were necessary to get barrows into the middle as the removal of infill from behind the top wall could only take place upwards onto the top of the rampart.
